Looking into the Diverse Culture of Arunachal Pradesh

The district, part of the “Land of the Dawn-lit Mountains”, is one of the most beautiful and diverse states in India. This state does, with its grand landscapes, ancient monasteries, vibrant festivals, and of course the tribal culture in the northeastern part of the country. And the trip through Arunachal Pradesh, the most beautiful place, has been a tour of history and nature, every place with a story of its own. Or maybe it’s the love of raw adventure and thirst for adventure, or even the history and traditions of the good old Arunachal Pradesh have that.

Here are the 5 best places in Arunachal Pradesh:

1. Tawang: A Gateway to Serenity

Tawang is one of the better places in Arunachal Pradesh because it is so beautiful and the whole spiritual aspect. Tawang is at 10000 feet and Tawang is tawang monastery which is very big and quite famous too, since it is the largest Indian Buddhist monastery and the second largest in the world. It’s so quiet, and the mountains are somewhere covered with snow, it’s just a place everyone should visit to find peace and relaxation.

Beautiful Shonga-tser Lake (Madhuri Lake) and the Sela Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. The war memorial at Tawang, dedicated to the soldiers of the 1962 Sino-Indian war, adds a historical color to your visit. Must the the best place to soak up nature and history in Arunachal pradesh.

2. Namdapha National Park:

A Haven for the Wildlover Namdapha National Park, it must be a paradise for those guys that come to Arunachal Pradesh for wildlife sightseeing. It is one of the biggest national parks in the eastern Himalayas and it extends over an area of more than 1,985 square kilometers. Literally in a park, one of the most biologically diverse places on earth. And all kinds of plants and animals, really cool ones like a clouded leopard, snow leopard, and red panda.

For the nature trekkers, the thick forest to hike through, hiking through the unexplored land, and even seeing the wild animals in their natural habitat was an exciting experience. You also can find the native Lisu and Chakma tribes here, the friends of nature for tens of thousands of years. This strange journey called Namdapha National Park has to be one of the finest in Arunachal Pradesh to satiate your wanderlust.

3. Bomdila: A Tranquil Retreat in the Himalayas

There is a good hill station bomdila in the west Kameng district. It has a skyline of tempting Eastern Himalayan views. It has Buddhist Monasteries and apple orchards it is so green. But where one COULD go is bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh. The Bomdila Monastery is also structured like the Tawang Monastery and is one of the holiest sites for the Buddhists so it is a very serene place for the tourists.

It’s so cool and the weather is so peaceful Bomdila will be the perfect place for anyone who wants to escape the rat race of city life. It is also the starting point for other places of interest such as Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary and Dirang Valley, it certainly is a great place to start sightseeing.

4. Itanagar: The Capital City with a History

Itanagar is the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, it’s a really big city but it’s not backward. It is one of the best places (as far as a history freak is concerned) due to the fact there are so many historical sites. The neatest thing to see is Ita Fort, a fortress from the 14th or 15th century. Ita is the local word for brick and Ita is also the name of this city because this fort was built of brick.

There are other things to see in Itanagar as well, like the Jawaharlal Nehru State Museum which has all the tribes on display and shows how culturally rich the state is, Ganga Lake-Gyakar Sinyi, a very beautiful and peaceful lake with boating, and the nearby Gompa Buddhist Temple that has a nice view of the city and the hills around. By itself one of the better places to feel the pulsing culture and history of Arunachal Pradesh.

5. Dirang: A Mix of Fun and Tradition

Another very beautiful town of West Kameng is Dirang. Apple orchards, and hot springs, are all this town has to offer besides the weather. That along with a few others happens to be one of the more promising starting points for a tour of Arunachal Pradesh, for a trekking and nature walk disciple such as myself. Sangti Valley is a peaceful valley about 20 km from Dirang, and it is the winter home of the endangered black-necked cranes from Tibet.

It also houses the remnants of the Dirang Dzong-governing building. It is a small town close to Sela Pass and Tawang and it serves as a good trekkers resting point as they trek through the area. Dirang is one of those few places in Arunachal Pradesh, it’s either adventure culture or nature, and dirang is one of those.

Conclusion

Arunachal Pradesh is the land of picturesque beauty and cultural grandeur. Whether it is the peaceful monasteries of Tawang the festive Ziro the wildlife of Namdapha or the adventure of Pasighat, it has something to offer for all types of tourists. Be it adventure, culture, or nature, Arunachal Pradesh has all of the best spots to visit. Arunachal Pradesh, is a place of unexplored landscapes and welcoming faces, a place you never forget.
