Overview
Rajgad was the first capital of the great Maratha empire. Rajgad Fort is situated in the Pune district it’s just 60km away from Pune and 15km from Nasrapur village in the Sahyadri mountains range. This is the most beautiful place with a great history. A night hike and camping adventure to Rajgad for wand precisely what I chose to do last year for my birthday, which is generally caused by extra celebration. Rajgad Fort offers a unique experience of history, adventure, and scenic splendor.
Getting to Base Village
One of our options was to catch a bus (which took around two to three hours) from Swargate Station to Gunjavane/Pali, the trekking’s base hamlet. Another way to go to Gunjavane/Pali was via taxi, which stopped at Pune Junction from whence you could take a bus or taxi. In Pune, shared cabs and jeeps were also easily accessible, providing a possibly faster alternative.
There are two main entry doors for Rajgad Fort treks:
Pali Darwaza: This route is considered easier and is perfect for novices. It’s just four kilometers from the fort.
Gunjavane: This route is slightly tougher but shorter, around two km. It is the most frequent route for night treks because it allows you to end up at the summit in 1 hour.
