Appropriate help is easily found as traveling can be stressful enough without having to plan each or every aspect of your trip. Fortunately, there are some wonderful applications out there today that assist you to plan and enjoy your travel.
Below are lists of the ten travel apps that I always have on my phone and the importance that they portray.
1. Google Maps – Facilitating Bus and Car travel Apps
https://workspace.google.com/Well here are some that no ‘shock horror’ anyone reading this should not know, but which are obvious to start with Google Maps. Most of the phones have default map/Navigation applications preinstalled but I have a preference for Google Maps when am lost in a new city. Some key features include:
Real-time directions by car, on foot, by public transport, by bicycle, and even by plane. This makes getting from one destination to the other easy because you are sure of the right routes to take even in an unknown area.
Venue details of local places, operating hours, customer feedback, and other information. Oh, how I use this to find yet another favorite cafe or the best restaurant within a short period.
Non-Internet features – you can download maps and directions in advance, so you don’t need a signal to navigate. Utterly beneficial when carrying the backpack in the wilderness.
2. TripIt is an application, which simplifies the process of organizing your trips.
Another advantage of TripIt travel apps is that all bookings for each trip can be consolidated into one location. Once you send all the confirmations to TripIt, it will organize all your flights, hotels, rental car, etc in one single list. Some reasons it’s a lifesaver:
It consolidates all key trip info – flight numbers, car rental locations, hotel addresses – so that guests can get to everything conveniently.
Receive a reminder when it is time to leave according to the latest flight information and traffic to the airport or train station
An important feature is that with just one push of a button, you can share your full itinerary with anybody you want – family, friends, or even travel buddies.
3. XE Currency – real-time currency converter
XE Currency is one of my favorite apps, especially for someone who travels to different countries very often for business. Key features that make it so helpful:
Current exchange rates for almost all world currencies can be viewed through this section.
- Sends alerts on the exchange rates frequently in a way that you’ll be up to date.
– Enables you to make conversions of amounts for certain offline so as not to require the internet.
This is evident from rate charts where various currencies are depicted on how they have been performing over normal and custom periods.
This means that you can easily compare if that souvenir is affordable or better start saving on the next country trip where you’ll be using an unfamiliar currency type.
4. Uber – Easy mobility
What kind of transport has Uber (or any other application like Lyft or Grab) become when you are traveling? I love Uber for a few major reasons:
Affordable cars that come to take you and drop you at your destination in numerous cities of the world
No need for confusion with foreign currency – it’s all done through the app.
- Includes a range of services from shared up to luxury cars.
To avoid a misunderstanding concerning the price of the work done, get a price quote as soon as possible.
Uber is extremely useful for people who have to get around unknown locations as it reduces transportation fuss.
5. Airbnb – Cheap housing in local communities
For hotels, the phenomenon of Airbnb travel apps , as well as applications of the same type, such as Vrbo, sparked a revolution in the travel industry. Instead of just having a hotel room in a corner of a city, you actually live like a local in all sorts of hosted accommodations. Key advantages:
An attractive feature of Airbnb accommodations is pricing with common nightly rates remaining comparatively low, particularly in the segment for groups, as rentals may involve multi-neighborhood properties.
Experience real communities instead of more typical hotel-driven zones
– Enter annex areas such as kitchens to cut down on the expenses of having food prepared at a restaurant
Have the ability to easily contact hosts and ask questions before the travel as well as agree on the times of arriving and departing.
Now I prefer such platforms to feel more like at home during the trip – I only use vacation rentals.
