“Join our spiritual and scenic Girnar trek—midnight start, temples, misty peaks, pink blooms & sunrise atop Gujarat’s highest summit!”

If you’re looking for a perfect mix of spirituality, adventure, and natural beauty, the Girnar trek in Junagadh, Gujarat, is an unforgettable journey that must make it to your travel bucket list. Here’s a glimpse into our real experience exploring Mount Girnar, the highest peak in Gujarat, on foot!

🚉 Journey Begins from Ahmedabad to Junagadh

Our Gujarat series took a beautiful turn when we boarded a train from Ahmedabad and reached Junagadh. From the station, a quick tuk-tuk ride brought us straight to the base of Girnar. The moment we arrived, we were greeted with the serene Bhavnath Mahadev Temple located at the foothills — a spiritually charged place that instantly sets the mood for what’s to come.

🕉️ Visit to Kashmiri Bapu Ashram & Hatkeshwar Temple

Before the trek, we visited the Kashmiri Bapu Ashram, which houses the Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple. The peaceful environment here helps you mentally prepare for the upcoming challenge.

🧗‍♀️ Trekking at 3 AM – Under the Stars and Through the Jungle

Determined to do the trek the traditional way, we skipped the ropeway (though it’s available for ₹700 return/₹400 one-way) and began our Girnar trek at 3 AM under a starry sky. Armed with trekking sticks and a lot of enthusiasm, we started from the Hanuman Temple, breaking a coconut and chanting “जय गिरनारे!” for courage — a must-have ritual before climbing this sacred peak.

🕌 Reaching the Beautiful Jain Temples at Dawn

After a few hours of trekking through thick forests, we reached the Jain temple complex. The architecture here is mesmerizing. If you time it right and reach around 6–7 AM, you’ll witness Mount Girnar enveloped in clouds, offering a breathtaking view that’s beyond words.

🌸 Pink Brahmi Flowers & Ambaji Temple

September is the season for Brahmi flowers, and the pink blooms added a magical touch to the journey. Around 7:00 AM, we reached the Ambaji Temple, which is also where the ropeway ends. So, even if you take the cable car, you’ll need to trek further to reach the summit.

🌅 Drone Shots, Chilly Breeze & Scenic Beauty

We spent some peaceful time here capturing drone shots and absorbing the natural beauty. The cold wind, the clouds kissing the peaks, and the smell of fresh mountain air made it a surreal experience.

🛕 Gorakhnath Temple – One of the Navnath Temples

Next stop was the Gorakhnath Temple, dedicated to one of the Navnath saints. This spot offers stunning panoramic views, especially during sunrise. With clouds all around and nature in full bloom, it felt like we were walking in the heavens.

🕉️ Final Ascent to Guru Dattatreya Temple – Highest Peak of Gujarat

After another 2.5 hours of trekking, we finally reached the Guru Dattatreya Temple around 10:00 AM. This is the highest peak in Gujarat, and legend says that Lord Dattatreya meditated here for 12,000 years. Sitting here in silence, we experienced divine energy — something that can’t be described in words.

🔥 Datt Dhuni & Kamandalu Kund – Sacred and Eternal Flame

Post darshan, we visited the Datt Dhuni, a sacred flame believed to be lit by Guru Dattatreya himself, still burning today. This flame is only visible on Mondays. Nearby is the Kamandalu Kund, another sacred site that adds to the spiritual weight of the trek.

🍛 Prasad at Annakshetra & Return Trek

After receiving prasad at the Annakshetra, we began our descent, which took around 4 hours. In total, the Girnar trek took about 10 hours (6 hours up, 4 hours down), but every step was worth it. We left Girnar with high spirits, divine blessings, and a soul-recharging experience.
